Artist Statement

I find myself always in pursuit of beautiful light and dramatic shadows, and watercolour seems the perfect medium to capture that luminous glow. Even ordinary items and places can be transformed from mundane to dramatic when kissed by sunshine. This is something that I try to achieve in my paintings, and to lead the viewer to take notice of things that are so often overlooked. My style is realistic because I'm not compelled to alter the beauty that already exists. We just need to see it from a new perspective to appreciate it.

Artist Bio

Award-winning Burlington waterolour artist and avid instructor, Shelley studied at Sheridan College and DVSA. She now paints various subjects in high realism with watercolour. She has 50K followers on YouTube, has been featured in several art magazines, produced videos with Streamline Publishing and has paintings at International Watercolour Masters (UK). Shelley has achieved signature status with Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, Women in Watercolour, Niagara Frontier Watercolour Society, Colour & Form Society, and DVSA.
