Linda Ross Gallagher
Painter (primarily oil)
Artist Statement
I am Linda Ross Gallagher, a contemporary Canadian artist, presently based in Ontario, recording every day moments in oil paint.
I invite you to see, hear, feel, taste, touch, to reconnect deeply to the healing of nature, to the joy of special moments, the awesomeness of places, people and everyday things, to find and tell your own story.
Painting on location is the foundation of my work, no matter the subject or medium used and the thread which runs through all of it is “Relationships with Place”.
Artist Bio
Originally from the Saguenay Region of Quebec, I explored trails down to the river, collecting and pressing wildflowers and playing in a frog pond with the family canoe. There is a deep love for nature and the outdoors here. I recorded these in watercolour and work currently with oil paint.
BFA, (Mount Allison University1973), SCA (elected member Society of Canadian Artists), I have participated in art societies, visiting artist workshops and studio tours through years of family moves all across the continent, living in 6 provinces as well as California. These locations have taught me to see by way of my art, hence the thread throughout my work is “Relationships With Place”, whether northern swampland or urban historical neighbourhoods.
By painting on location as much as possible, I celebrate through all senses, to reconnect deeply to our natural lands, to cherish history and remember, bringing these experiences and feelings into your personal sanctuary.
Presently residing in Halton Hills, Ontario, I am member of CVA, FASM and OSA and a founding member of Norval Studios and Gallery, out of which I create on a daily basis.
