Workshops, Classes, and More
Artists who work and create together, grow together, by sharing stories, ideas, memories, and dreams. Won't you join us?
Throughout each calendar year, FASM offers workshops and classes with pre-eminent artists that would appeal to experienced, emerging, and beginning artists alike. While non-members are welcome to register, FASM members receive a fee discount on all workshops.

Workshops in 2024
Coming on April 28th: Portrait Painting, with Stephanie Schirm (acrylic, oil, or watercolour) - no portrait painting experience required
Sample Artwork
Date: Sunday, April 28, 2024
Time: 10 am to 3 pm
Where: Tim Horton Studio, FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton
Fee: Members: $100; Non-Members: $120
Workshop Description:
Portrait painting experience is not required for this exciting workshop. As long as you are comfortable with your medium, you will learn and have fun at this workshop.
Stephanie will take students outside of the traditional portrait painting box, where they will discover a colourful, expressive, and efficient way to create a different kind of portrait, based on temperature and colour play. She will guide students through the layers of constructing the portrait, including the planes of the head, feature proportion, and how light reveals the elements of the face. Students will be working from a photo that is provided, and will be reminded that likeness is not always a must for an expressive portrait.
