Potter

Artist Statement

For many years I have worked with clay and stained glass but I always find myself gravitating to clay. As a child I loved rainy days which produced some beautiful red clay to muck with. Now I am retired and enjoy spending hours in my home studio, losing myself in the possibilities that clay presents for me.

Artist Bio

I began my journey with clay in the early 1970's. For two years we lived in Northern Saskatchewan where I taught a class for Creighton Community College in our local school. This was a huge challenge for me since I had never fired a kiln and needed to repair it and master the techniques and safety before I could develop a program that would work within the restrictions I faced in an isolated community. Once back in Ontario, pottery was a sporadic hobby while raising two children, working full time, and taking on a university degree part time. Being retired, I can focus on clay and enjoy many hours exploring its hidden possibilities.
