B. Ariss-Stroh-Wasser

Painter (oil, mixed)

Artist Statement

Barbara Ariss-Stroh-Wasser is a conceptual visual artist, who is known mostly for her black-white creations, and paintings in bright primary colours, in bold designs on large framed and unframed canvases.

At times she applies more muted colours with a combination of both delicate and bold lines, creating a slight imbalance to emphasize her theme, as in:

1. THE UNIVERSAL STORY, YOURS , MINE, ANYONE'S
Between the fine lines, she encourages the onlookers to reflect on the search for the mystery of the universe's beginnings, for the mysteries of life, love, procreation, and the possibility of a joy-filled transformation before one departs onto the next, unknown journey. As indicated in black, there are many important cross roads, intersections, and detours in one's life that offer a choice. What choices did you decide on?

2. RECYCLING MEMORIES
is a physical transformation from my favorite silk blouse into a piece of art because it could not be worn anymore due to an irremovable coffee stain in an obvious spot. This is a reminder of the importance of accepting CHANGE.

3.EARTH RENEWAL, OCEAN RENEWAL
expresses on framed and unframed canvas in vibrant colours that in the end, the earth and ocean will survive through human ingenuity and in applying various areas of all sciences to repair unwanted damages.

4.VOLCANIC EXPLOSIONS
There are always bright spots one can find in darkness. Can you remember when you found hope in the darkest moments of your life?

5.FROM ICARUS' FLIGHT TO JAMES WEB SPACE TELESCOPE
emphasizes visually, in mostly black-white design, that the inert search to fly into unlimited space will answer at one point one's questions: Where do we come from? Where are we going to?

Artist Bio

Barbara Ariss-Stroh-Wasser was born in Eastern Europe, educated in Western Europe, and came through marriage to Canada where she raised two successful sons with her husband.

She applied her creativity as an educator in the Ontario Public School System, in private language schools, as a tutor, and as an architectural designer of residences and landscapes for her husband's business.

As a conceptual visual artist, she tries to expand the onlooker's mind away from their daily experiences, outward to events in global history and discoveries in all sciences including space and technology - reminding us that we can actively embrace our present and future.

Her artwork is represented internationally in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia - specifically in Singapore, Indonesia, and China.
